5 apps for chronic procrastinators
Procrastination is rarely laziness: the task is fine, it is the first minute of it that never arrives. These five each go after a different weak point — the reflex that opens a distracting app, the start that keeps being put off, the morning that slips past the alarm, a list too long to begin, and the habits that fade once nobody is counting.
The apps for chronic procrastinators are one sec, Focus Train, Alarmy, 3Things Pal and Streaks. I built Focus Train and 3Things Pal; the other 3 are other developers’ apps.

one sec
★★★★★★★★★★4.0 · Free · Productivity · App Store 4.8 (23,692)
Puts one breath between you and a distracting app before it opens.
Skip it if you are staying on the free tier: reviewers describe it as deliberately more irritating than the paid one, which is an odd thing to build into an app about calm.

Focus Train Editor’s pick
★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · Free · Productivity · App Store 5.0 (5)
Starting is the hard part: board, and the train rolls while you work.

Alarmy
★★★★★★★★★★4.0 · Free · Lifestyle · App Store 4.8 (248,893)
Solve a math problem or do squats before the alarm will stop.
Skip it if you need an alarm that cannot fail — long-time users report alarms not sounding after updates or once the app is closed, and a free version that now leans hard on ads and subscription prompts.

3Things Pal Editor’s pick
★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · Free · Productivity · App Store 4.9 (9)
One question each morning: what three things matter today? Not ten.

Streaks
★★★★★★★★★★4.0 · $5.99 · Health & Fitness · App Store 4.8 (27,350)
Tick off up to 24 daily habits and keep each streak going.
Skip it if you track more than 24 habits or depend on the Apple Watch — the limit is fixed, and reviewers report streak history vanishing and the watch not syncing completions back to the phone.

Focus Train and 3Things Pal are mine — everything else on this list is someone else’s app. How that works.
